Child Care for CT is a statewide coalition of parents, providers, educators, and community members fighting for a future where every family can access affordable, high-quality child care—and every provider is paid fairly.

This year, we organized, we showed up, and we made history.

Thanks to the power of our coalition and supporters across the state, Connecticut passed a groundbreaking suite of laws that lay the foundation for the most comprehensive child care system in the country.

But this is just the beginning.

What We Won

The new legislation puts families and providers first:

  • Cost caps so no family pays more than 7% of income on child care

  • Fair wages for early childhood educators and caregivers

  • Expanded access to child care across all regions of the state

  • A permanent endowment to fund the system long term

  • Equity built in—prioritizing the communities that need care the most

By the Numbers

  • $500+ million in new state and federal child care investments

  • 180+ advocates trained in 2024 alone

  • 3,000+ emails sent to lawmakers

  • Dozens of events held across Connecticut

  • National recognition for Connecticut’s bold leadership

What’s Next

Passing laws is just step one. Implementation is everything.

Without swift action from lawmakers and state agencies, this transformation could take 10 years to fully reach families. That’s too long for parents who are already struggling.

We need:

  • Speed—Families can’t wait for care

  • Fairness—All communities must benefit

  • Accountability—We must ensure that the law is implemented as promised

“We organized, we showed up—and we made history. Now we need to make it real.”
